about

The last three tracks on this albums are sketches for a violin concerto. The title of the first movement of the concerto, Brutal Fanfare, refers both to imposing raw concrete buildings of brutalist architecture and to brutality between human beings, which has become more and more apparent in recent years. In addition to the influence of Stravinsky, Bartók and a bit of Xenakis, I was also inspired by the music of Charles Mingus and Sun Ra, particularly in the main theme, which is introduced in fragments. Slayer’s Raining Blood, which is one of the first arrangements I did for String Power, also found its way into this movement. The brutality comes to a climax in the ending of this movement, which I actually wrote first.
